About the course

This new revision has expanded the requirement for suppliers to automotive industry to become registered to IATF 16949:2016. These requirements pertain to design and development, production and when relevant, installation and service of automotive-related products throughout the automotive supply chain.

Course Outlines

Prior Knowledge

While there are no formal prerequisites, it is strongly recommended that delegates have a working knowledge of ISO/TS 16949:2009 and/or familiarity with the newly issued standards, IATF 16949:2016 and ISO 9001:2015, in order to get the most out of this course. It is also advised that you have prior auditing experience and knowledge of the automotive core tools.

Course Objectives

Attendees of this course will learn to audit to the requirements of the standards using the automotive process approach. The course includes methods for auditing the automotive core tools; FMEA, SPC, MSA, PPAP and APQP.

Participants will learn to audit to the requirements of IATF 16949:2016 and ISO 9001:2015 using basic process-based auditing techniques by utilising the principles defined in ISO 19011, the international standard that defines the guidelines for conducting audits of management systems.

The course takes participants through the entire audit cycle: planning, conducting, evaluating, reporting, and following up and uses a variety of techniques, such as interactive workshops, simulated audit scenarios, tutorials, and case studies.

Course Content

These methods facilitate the development of the necessary skills to plan, lead and conduct a third-party audit including

  • Develop practical audit skills to facilitate value-added audits
  • Enhance evaluation and communication skills necessary to conduct effective audits,
  • Refine reporting skills to document value-added audit findings, and
  • Validate corrective actions for effectiveness

This training concentrates primarily on external second- and third-party audits and includes continuous assessment of attendee understanding, and an exam on the final day. Discussion of how to manage and conduct supplier assessments is also a component of this training.
