About the course

The course provides an overview of the topics of corruption (bribery) and fraud (theft) and their respective elements. Participants will be better able to identify risk exposures, symptoms, and appropriate mitigation controls.

The course is designed for new employees as well as those who need a refresher on corporate governance, ethics, and whistleblower policies.

Learning Outcomes

The training session is designed to be interactive, with short exercises based on real-world examples.

It covers the following:

  • Defining corruption and fraud and the legal ramifications that may ensue from both.
  • Understanding what drives people to commit fraud.
  • Understanding why Managers do not detect fraudulent practices.
  • Understanding a five-step approach to fraud detection- exposures and symptoms.
  • Increasing awareness of the "Red Flags of Fraud".
  • Developing a Fraud Prevention Plan / Policy: Four step approach.

Course Details

Tutor

Mr. Terrence Norris will be the tutor. Terrence is a Co-Founder of Getgovernanz Malta, with extensive international and local (Malta) work experience in the private, public (government) and international organisations, most recently the United Nations as Chief, Office of Internal Oversight Services.
